The American Bar Association Section of Taxation has announced the creation of the Loretta Collins Argrett Fellowship, a new initiative to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Tax Bar.
The goal of the Loretta Collins Argrett Fellowship is to identify, engage, and infuse historically underrepresented individuals into the Section; create a more accessible, equitable, and inclusive pathway into Section leadership; and support the expansion, diversification, and inclusiveness of the tax profession to create a space and sense of belonging for those looking to become involved with the Section.
The Fellowship is a three-year program open to any individual with a diverse background or a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the tax bar. The Section aspires to award up to five (5) three-year Fellowships each fiscal year.
The application deadline is Sunday, April 3, 2022. Learn more and apply for the Fellowship here.
Benefits of the Fellowship include:
The Tax Section is also inviting donations to the new Tax Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (JDEI) Fund. The Tax JDEI Fund includes a permanent endowment within the American Bar Association Fund for Justice and Education (FJE). Charitable donations to the ABA FJE are tax deductible within the limits of the law. Investment revenue from the Tax JDEI Fund will provide stable, long-term funding for the Section’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and provides key financial support for the Fellowship.
